Yep... I'm an Idiot...

So I was able to come across these awesome Rocket's tickets for the Miami Heat game and got a really bright idea! I would buy the tickets and give them to Michael and his brother Lucas for Christmas. The game isn't till the middle of January but still... that'd make for a great gift right?

So on Tuesday I email Michael's sister in law, Kandis, and ask her how Lucas feels about basketball. I already know that Michael loves it and, of course, find out that Lucas does as well! So I am so excited. This is the best idea I've ever had! Bro time doing something they both love! And a little extra kick is that Lucas' favorite team growing up was... wait for it... MIAMI!!! So this is a double win right???

Well, through our emails I tell Kandis all about the tickets and we start talking about how his birthday is very near the time of the game and then we get on the subject of 'near holiday birthdays'. That brings me to the topic of the timing of my birthday and how the last one I had was so special because Michael proposed to me the day after. (I tell that story every chance I get and thrive on bragging about how wonderful he is) So the email goes on and she jokes with me and says "So he really is a sweet guy". And of course I respond with my smart comments and say "Oh no, he is the most infuriating and irritating man I've ever known... but he is also the sweetest and I love him more than anything." Keep in mind that all the while we have joking smiley faces all over the place.

Through the emails we've made dinner plans to hang out on Friday night and we forget to firm everything up. So Thursday comes with no firm plans at all and she just responds to that email chain with a simple question... "What did we decide for Friday night?" Without thinking twice about it I forward the email to Michael!!! Worse, I don't include a message to prelude the emails!!! What do you do when you get a forward with no forwarding message??? YOU START FROM THE BOTTOM AND WORK YOUR WAY UP!!!

So, needless to say, Michael knows all about the 'surprise' Rockets tickets. AND... he read all about how he is the most irritating and infuriating man I've ever met in my life! I WAS MORTIFIED!!!

His response... "Do whatever is best for you and the girls. I don't want to be irritating or infuriating!!!"

Ulgh... I am beside myself with mortification. My future sister in law could not stop laughing when I told her and my only hope is that it can be kept a secret from Lucas, even though Michael did hint to the fact that Lucas might already know...

Damn...
